Wood seller in court for alleged fraud

A 35-year-old man, Ade Akinfolayan has been arraigned before an Ofosu Magistrates’ Court in Idanre local Government area of Ondo State for alleged fraud estimated at N82,000.

The defendant was arraigned by the police on a count bordering on obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.

The Police prosecutor, Inspector A. Odejide said Akinfolayan collected the sum from one Falilat Alayo under false pretence of supplying wood at Ofosu Magisterial district.

He said the accused allegedly collected the money fraudulently from the complainant between March and July 2018 at Lion junction at  Ofosu town.

According to the prosecution, the  accused contravened Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr B.A. Ikusika granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in the  like sum.

He said the sureties must be a resident of the area, while he must show evidence of two years tax payment to Ondo State Government.

The case was adjourned till December 27, 2018.
