Work with fear of God, civil servants urged

Civil servants in Ondo State have been enjoined to exhibit the fear of God and do their work conscientiously, bearing in mind that only God rewards.
The Zaki of Arigidi Akoko, Oba Yisa Olanipekun made the call at this year’s Ramadan Lecture organised by the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Akoko North/west Local Government Chapter, held at Ansar-ud-deen Central Mosque, Arigidi-Akoko.
The monarch posited that it was lack of the fear of God that is responsible for the security challenges in the country including the increasing wave of ritual killings .
Similarly, Oba Olanipekun stated that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) still remained one of the few Governors that have workers’ welfare at heart.
He therefore urged them (civil servants) to give their support and loyalty to the governor.
In the lecture titled “Development and Hurdles Before Us in Nigeria. The Islamic Angle, Ustaz Saheed Nasiru who is the Chief Imam of Federal Science Technical College, Ikare Akoko, said the decay in the Nigerian society is as a result of the total neglect of responsibility by all and sundry.
The chairman of Akoko North/west Local Government, Elder Samson Akande commended the organisers of the lecture for finding time to review the state of the nation and proffer spiritual solutions to them.
The Chairman of the group, Sheik Basiru Aminu urged clerics to always make their immediate environment a reference point in their sermons as this will go a long way to reduce social vices and crimes in the society.
Dignitaries at the lecture included Chief Imam of Okeagbe, Sheik Amodu Bello Chief Imam of Arigidi Akoko, Sheik Jimoh Balogun and the National Organising Secretary of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Alhaji Ibrahim Kilani.
