World TB Day: Avoid crowd Expert warns

A medical expert, Dr. Moboluwaji Olawande has advised people to always avoid overcrowded gathering in order to avert the spread of Tuberculosis.
Olawande stated this while speaking with The Hope in Okitipupa, to mark the World Tuberculosis day.
World TB Day is celebrated March 24. It marks the day Dr. Robert Koch discovered the bacteria that causes TB in 1882, which opened the way for treatment, diagnosis, and others.
This year 2023 theme is “Yes, we can end TB” according to World Health Organization (WHO)
Dr. Olawande said “Tuberculosis said: “(TB) is a disease caused by germs that are spread from person to person through the air.
“TB usually affects the lungs, but it can also affect other parts of the body, such as the brain, the kidneys, or the spine and a person with TB can die If they do not get adequate treatment.”
The medical expert, therefore, advised the people of Okitipupa and its environs to avoid crowded places in other to prevent the spread of tuberculosis.
He added that Tuberculosis is a curable infection, if the patient follows the physician’s advice.
He added early detection is important in the treatment of tuberculosis and once it is observed, the patient must be properly diagnosed after which medical treatment is promptly offered”.
He however warned that tuberculosis must not be handled with levity lest it claims the sufferer.
