Xmas fallout: Police declare teenagers missing in Ekiti

The police in Ekiti State on Wednesday declared two teenagers missing.
The duo reportedly disappeared during the recent Christmas and New Year celebrations.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, Mr. Sunday Abutu, the missing individuals are Aderukuola Adedayo, a 16-year-old female from Aramoko-Ekiti in Ekiti West Local Government Area, and Hassan Omowumi, also 16, who went missing on 1st January 2025 in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The police described both teenagers as dark in complexion, with no tribal marks, and fluent in Yoruba, English, and the Ekiti dialect.
Mr. Abutu stated that Aderukuola left her residence at Idifi Street, Aramoko-Ekiti, on 14th December 2024 and has not been seen since. Similarly, the second teenager, Hassan Omowumi, of No. 16 Akinlabi Street, Adebayo Area, Ado-Ekiti, reportedly left home on 26th December 2024 and has not returned.
“She is 17 years old, fair in complexion, with no tribal marks.
She is about four feet tall and speaks Yoruba fluently,” the statement added.
The police command expressed its sympathy with the families of the missing teenagers and assured the public that investigations have commenced to determine their whereabouts.
The statement urged anyone with useful information about the missing teenagers to contact the nearest police station.
