A Pan Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, the Defense for Yoruba People’s Right (DYPR) has congratulated President Mohammadu Buhari and his Deputy, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, over their victory in the just concluded presidential election.

The group in a release signed by its National Chairman, Otunba Muyideen Olamoyegun, advised the President to remain focused and pay little attention to the activities of those they described as detractors.

The DYPR who expressed joy over the victory of the All Progressive Congress  (APC) candidates in the poll, described the re-election of President Mohammadu Buhari as a welcome development in the country,  adding that the election of the President could not have been possible if “he has not demonstrated his ability as an astute leader, good manager and administrator of human and material resources,” the group stated.

The Yoruba group while advising the President to be forward looking and remain committed in the fulfilment of his promises to the people of the country, however called on the opposition political parties to join hands with President Mohammadu Buhari  in the task of moving the country forward.

The group stressed the need for President Buhari to consolidate on the achievements recorded by his administration in the first four years, while harping on the need for the creation of more job opportunities for unemployed youths in the country, saying the move would help complement the results achieved in the other sectors such as education, security, health, urban renewal, agriculture, culture and tourism among others.

While acknowledging the various initiatives already taken by the Buhari-led administration in its efforts at tackling  unemployment in the country which include, introduction of N-power, employment of about twenty thousand police officers and other security agents, the DYPR  urged the Federal Government to do more by creating new windows of opportunities particularly in the rural areas where he said unemployed persons could be gainfully employed.
