Young artistes don’t get royalties –D’fresh

By Damilola Akinmolayan

Upcoming singer, Daniel Arewa aka D’fresh has lamented that young artistes in Nigeria don’t usually get the royalties off their creative work.

He said being an up-and-coming artiste in Nigeria consumes a lot of resources, yet, they don’t get the deserved accolades or any form of compensation.

D’fresh believes that “the whole structure needs to change and the right channel needs to be built so that the rewards for being creative can come in.”

He considers Wizkid as one of the artistes he’s looking up to, alongside Kiss Daniel.

D’fresh said the ‘kilometer’ crooner has proved to be Nigeria’s greatest, at least for now.

“Winning the Grammys in the best album category isn’t a child’s play, but I’m looking forward to breaking his record by winning as many Grammys as possible, and that journey starts with the release of my new music, ‘Bless my way’.

He added that “ Davido, Burna Boy and other artistes are doing really well and have proven to be great, but clinching the Grammys has placed Burna Boy on a higher pedestal.”

D’fresh, who is a native of Ondo State, said  he  believe in God and himself. “I believe I can do anything,” He said.
