The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Jesubiyi Olusola, has assured institutions in Ondo town of security of lives and property.
The Police boss who visited Adeyemi College of Education (ACE), University of Medical Science (UNIMED) and Wesley University in Ondo town said it was aimed at seeking areas of cooperation.
Jesubiyi disclosed these while speaking with Management of ACE during a courtesy visit to the campus, held at the old Council Chamber in the college.
While congratulating the authorities of the College, for Federal Government’s decision to upgrade the institution to a University of Education, he described the news as a welcome development.
He stressed the need for greater cooperation with Management of the college, in the bid at addressing any issue, that could emanate as a result of expected increase in students population.
The CP expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation existing between the police authorities and Management of the College, saying:” I learnt from the Area Commander, and Divisional Police Officers in Ondo axis, that you people have been relating well.”
“However, I wish we improve on the synergy, as you know, we are dealing with students who are from different parts of the country, and as you are now being upgraded to a university, more students would be eligible to come from different parts of the country, so, there is going to be an increase in students intake, hence, we need to synergize, cooperate, share information and intelligence” he remarked.
While assuring the Management of continued support, the Ondo CP advised leadership of the college not to relent in sharing useful information with the Ondo State Police Command headquarters in Akure, the Ondo state capital, stating that the move would help in promoting peace in the institution.
Responding, the Chairman University Transition Committee ACE, Ondo, Dr. Olufemi Olajuyigbe, who spoke on behalf of the Provost, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, thanked the CP for the courtesy visit, and expressed appreciation for assistance rendered to the institution in the area of provision of security.
Akintunde also commended the police boss, and officers and men of the Ondo State Police command, for relative peace currently being enjoyed in Ondo city and environs.
He assured the CP of cooperation and appealed for provision of needed support following the elevation of the college to a university.
