Youth Assembly of Nigeria inaugurates Ondo chapter leadership

Youths in Ondo State have been urged to rise to the occasion and embrace leadership roles, leveraging their energy and talents to contribute to societal development.
This call was made during the inauguration ceremony of the 4th Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Ondo State Chapter, held at the State Information Technology Agency in Alagbaka, Akure.
Delivering the keynote address on “Exploring Potent Strategies for Youth Integration and Participation in Sustainable Democracy,” Tomide Akinribido, Senior Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) emphasised the need for youths to channel their vibrancy and creativity towards driving positive change.
Akinribido highlighted the challenges confronting the society but noted that these are surmountable with the right mindset and positioning of the youth.
He stressed that political education is crucial for young people to understand the system, urging them to see politics not merely as a source of income but as a means to build resilience and develop alternative livelihoods.
He also implored youths to avoid violence as the November 16 gubernatorial election approaches, noting that peaceful engagement is essential for the sustainability of democracy.
In her address, Mrs Lovelyn Yemi-Ese, guest speaker at the event, spoke on the theme “The Nigerian Youth as a Positive Change Agent” and called on young people to hold leaders accountable while equipping themselves with the necessary skills to participate effectively in the political process.
She urged the youth to take up the mantle of leadership and work to restore their image within the society, emphasising that their role in governance is crucial for the nation’s future.
Mrs Yemi-Ese further stated that the Youth Assembly serves as a platform to groom and train young leaders who will eventually steer the nation to greater heights.
The newly inaugurated Speaker of the Youth Assembly, Rt. Hon. Isaiah Oyawale, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their support during the election process and pledged to deliver impactful leadership that would benefit the entire state.
Other key members of the executive include Oluwalade Oluwafemi, Deputy Speaker, Eric O. Ajayi, Clerk representing Ondo West, Elegbeleye Saheed, Majority Leader, and Adewale Olayemi as Minority Leader representing Akoko Northwest.
Other members include Agunbiade Abiola, Deputy Clerk from Ileoluji Okeigbo; Alasoadura Ronke, Deputy Minority Leader; and Abiodun Adewumi, Chief Whip representing Ondo East. Agboola Mercy serves as Sergeant-at-Arms, with Bankole Eunice as Director of Protocol for Ose Local Government.
Adebusoye Ololade was named Okitipupa LGA Coordinator, while Oladokun Bolu and Asoore Oluwashinaayomi were appointed as Coordinators for Ondo North District and Akoko South West, respectively.
In addition to these, Omoniyi Atinuke was selected as Ondo West Local Government Coordinator, Gabriel Tanimola as Ose Local Government Coordinator, Emayivo Adeolu as Ondo South District Coordinator, and Idowu Ayomiposi as Ondo Central District Coordinator. Tamarauemoemi James was appointed Deputy Majority Leader. Further appointments included Adelabu Omiyeniyi, Adebusoye Jeremiah, and Aladesanwa Shakirat, who were also inaugurated as coordinators.
The event was graced by dignitaries such as Ambassador Shuaibu Sanni, the National Speaker of YAN, represented by the National Deputy Speaker, Charles Ezeaniekwe, alongside Victor Oguntoyinbo, Speaker of the 3rd Assembly, and Damilare Adeyelure, State Ambassador of the 3rd Assembly. Also present were Mr Ayo Obe, former National Speaker, and Yusuff Odunayo, Assistant Commandant of the Corps, NSCDC, Ondo State Command.
