Youths of Isinigbo Community area in Akure North local government have apprehended a 34-year-old serial goat thief, Johnson Alabi, for stealing seven goats.
The Hope Metro gathered that the suspect was arrested on Thursday afternoon after he had succeeded in killing all the seven goats he stole.
According to reports, the community intercepted a gang which specialises in stealing their livestock which included goats at midnight and sell them at cheaper rates to their customers.
“It was at the point of putting them in a Sack bag, that one of the youths in the community saw him and raised the alarm.
Investigations revealed that in the past few weeks, there had been repeated complaints from residents in the remote area of Akure over their livestocks missing.
A member of the community who did not want his name in print told our correspondent that the group always operate at midnight and sell the goats at cheaper rates to their customers who resell the butchered goats at various markets.
The suspect confessed, “We usually attack streets where there are large flocks of goats and we carry out our operations mostly at nights.”
It was learnt that many of the goats always disappear whenever they get to mature stage.
Reports indicated that the suspected thief has been handed over to men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun Corps, and he would be charged to Court after completion of investigation.
Reports had it that the suspect who has an influential boss that always secures his release whenever he was caught, boasted that he would be back soonest.
