Nigerian youths have been admonished to participate actively in the coming general elections in order to change the narrative of governance in the country.
Some youth leaders in separate interviews with The Hope advised old politicians to ensure inclusiveness of youths in politics.
According to national statistics, Nigerian youths between 18 and 34 years represent more than half of the country’s population, but a huge number of them are either unemployed or under employed, making them vulnerable to social vices.
Meanwhile INEC said out of over nine million Nigerians who recently registered as new voters in the Continuous Voter Registration, seven million are youths between 18 and 34 years.
Recall that the total number of eligible voters now stands at 93.5 million.
The APC Youth leader in Southwest, Lawal Kolade enjoined youths to see themselves as agents of positive change and avoid being used as tools for political violence.
A youth and social media influencer, Yemi Fash enjoined youths to come out enmass to vote in order to be armed with the power to choose right leaders just as he urged them to shun vote-selling.
A young politician, Ayoade Bobola stressed the need for the youths to be trusted with power as their energy and capabilities are crucial to national development.
Others challenged the youths to see the coming elections as an opportunity to decide their fate and future, noting that every citizen has a role to play in getting Nigeria to where it ought to be.
