Yuletide: Ekiti Amotekun intensifies operations to curb crime

The Ekiti State Amotekun Corps has heightened security operations across the state to ensure a crime-free festive season.
Speaking on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti, the Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. Olu Adewa, revealed that the outfit is working tirelessly to guarantee a peaceful Christmas and New Year celebration.
“The corps is unrelenting in the bid to bring down crime to the barest minimal in the state,” Adewa stated.
He added that some suspects had been apprehended in connection with various crimes in the state.
Providing further details, the Head of Communications for the corps, Mr Adewale Adewa, disclosed that a 22-year-old man, Sunday Ojo, was arrested for allegedly stealing a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number FU481H at Tosa Street in Odooro, Ekiti East Local Government Area.
Additionally, Amotekun operatives in Efon Local Government Area apprehended two suspects, 20-year-old Emmanuel Eriba and 30-year-old John Ogbam on December 22 for conspiracy and theft.
“The two suspects are residents of Efon Alaaye but hail from Benue State. Information revealed that they were apprehended for alleged stealing of some yam tubers and a TVS motorcycle owned by one Mr Ajewole Segun at his farm.
“Upon interrogation by the officers, the two suspects confessed to the crime, saying they colluded and conspired against the complainant.
“All the suspects, alongside the exhibits recovered from them, have since been handed over to the police in the different divisions for further investigation and prosecution,” the commander stated.
