Yuletide: Olubaka urges peaceful co-existence

By Adeboye Ado

As the Christmas celebration approaches, the Olubaka of Oka, Oba (Dr) Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, OON, has called on residents of Oka community to embrace peace and exercise moderation during the festive season.

The monarch made the appeal on Monday during a Carol Service organised by the monarch’s wife.

Speaking during the event, Oba Adeleye acknowledged that Oka-Akoko had enjoyed significant peace due to collaborative efforts between the government and the traditional institution.

“I encourage our people to continue living in peace, as a harmonious community is essential for stability and progress.

“I appreciate everyone’s efforts in fostering peace and unity, and I take this opportunity to urge moderation during this festive season. Let us celebrate responsibly and uphold the values that strengthen our community.

“Peace is the foundation of development and growth, and it is only in a peaceful environment that businesses can thrive, children can learn, and our collective aspirations can be achieved. Therefore, we must all work together to ensure that our actions and words promote unity and understanding among us.

“As we celebrate this festive period, let us remember those in need and extend a helping hand to the less privileged. By showing love and kindness to one another, we can build a stronger and more inclusive community,” he said.

Meanwhile, the monarch’s wife, Olori Adejumoke Adeleye, distributed Christmas gifts to over 250 children in the community.

Following the distribution, Olori Adejumoke appealed for greater support for children deprived of access to education.
