ZLP House of Assembly’s candidates emerge

The candidates of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Ondo State to contest the 26 seats at the State House of Assembly in the next year general elections have emerged.

The 26 candidates of the party from the various constituencies in the state emerged through the peaceful primary held across the state at the weekend.

They will slug it out with other 47 political parties including the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) existing in the state.

Emerged candidates include Mr. Dayo Olubo (Akure South constituency 2) and Mr. Abiodun Ogunsakin (Akure North constituency),

The primary held at the party’s secretariat in Akure and monitored by The Hope had in attendance the leaders of the party, men of Department of State Service (DSS) and the officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who monitored the exercise.

Speaking with The Hope, a candidate of the party to represent Akure South constituency 2 at the State House of Assembly, Mr. Dayo Olubo, described the primary exercise through which he emerged as free and fair.

Olubo emerged winner in the delegate primary with 38 votes to defeat Mr. Sanya Oluwateru who polled 14 votes.

Olubo said that the next year election will base on personality and antecedents of candidates.

According to him, “mechanism is on ground with the legacy of the presidential candidate of the party, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko for the candidates of the party to coast victory in the elections.

Another emerged candidate of the party to represent Akure North constituency, Otunba Abiodun Ogunsakin, polled 45 votes to defeat his closest contestant, Mr. Fagoroyo Akinmayowa,who scored 31votes.

Ogunsakin thanked the leadership of the party for the credible exercise produced him as a flag bearer of the party to contest in the next year election.
