Student arraigned for stealing money, phones

Babatunde Idowu , a 20-year -old student has been arraigned before an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing money and phones worth N900,000, belonging to a businesswoman in Okitipupa April 30, 2019 at about 2:am in Ayeka, Okitipupa .
Idowu of no fixed address was said to have robbed the woman, one Ibire Erejuwa, on April 30, 2019 at about 2 a.m in Ayeka, Okitipupa.
He is currently standing trial on four counts charge bothering on burglary, stealing and conspiracy..
The prosecutor, Inspt, Omoyegha Ayodeji, told the court how the victim reported the case of stealing at the police station .
Ayodeji equally narrated how his team swung into action and effected the arrest of the suspect.
The charge read in part, “That you, “Babatunde Idowu (m) a student and other still at large on the 30th day of April ,2019 at about 2:00am did steal the following items : one Tecno phone valued at N8500, one infinix hot 4 phone valued at N35,000,one Tando phone valued at N4500 one itel phone valued at N4000 and the sum N860,000 total value of N915,000, properties of Ibire Erejuwa and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 390(9)of the Criminal Code Cap37 Vol 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
During cross examination, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge.
The Magistrate, Mr. D.O. Ogunfuyi granted the suspect bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ogunfuyi said the sureties must be reasonable and responsible citizens with verifiable addresses.
He adjourned the case till June 10, 2019 for further hearing.
