Gunmen abduct Army Captain, 3 others

An Army Captain,  D. Gana, three others were at the early hours of yesterday abducted by hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers along Auga/Akunnu in Akoko North East Local Government of Ondo State.

They were said to be coming from Abuja when they were kidnapped. Sources close to The Hope Metro disclosed that their abductors were demanding for N20 million before they could be released.

It was also gathered that the hoodlums forcefully took them from the vehicle into the bush leaving the car behind.

According to the source, the Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) of Ikare Division, Chief Superintendent of Police, on hearing the information moved  to the scene in company of his men, only to meet the abandoned vehicle.

It was learnt that  the 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure of the Nigerian Army have mobilized its men to comb the bush with a view to rescue the victims and apprehend the culprits.

Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro who confirmed the story said the incident happened along Auga/Akunnu road at about 4.am.

He explained that the police Commissioner was informed of the incident by the DPO and he had immediately launched a manhurt for the kidnappers in a bid to rescue the officer.

The PPRO said an intensive investigation of the incident has begun. He enjoined anybody with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the criminals to forward same to the police for onward action.

He assured that, both the police and military operative were already on the matter saying the victim would be released unhurt.
