Parents and guardians have been urged to instill discipline and fear of God in their wards so that they can be successful in their future careers.

Speaking in an interview with The Hope, a teacher, Dr Emmanuel Moyinjesu said most children are not disciplined today because their parents are not doing enough to instill discipline in them.

Moyinjesu said students were more disciplined when schools were managed by missions because almost all the students were in the boarding house.

The teacher who said admission into secondary schools in those was based purely on merit, added that school managers placed premium on academic excellence.

According to him, the missionaries ensured that the students attended classes when they should, read when they should, go to the chapel when they should, among others.

He added that most people who passed through the missions’ schools were men and women of integrity and are successful in their chosen careers.

He called on stakeholders to do everything possible to improve the standard of education.

While saying that much should be done in the area of infrastructural development in schools, he called on all and sundry to contribute to the development of education in the country.

He called on well to do people in the country to support through scholarship.

He called on parents to play their roles since most children are no longer in the boarding system so that they can grow up to become successful in their careers.
