Kwara United defeat Elkanemi

Kwara United football club have defeated Elkanemi Warriors FC 2-0 in the Abridged Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL decided at Ondo State Sports complex Akure.

Anthony Omaka gave the Afonja Warriors the lead in the 78th minute after scoring from goal mouth scramble before Samad Kabir sealed the victory for the Afonja Warriors minutes later.

Both sides were unable to make any difference in the first half of the entertaining encounter as the score board remained goaless.

Kwara United coach Kabir Dogo in a chat with newsmen thanked football fans in Akure for their solidarity.

The former Sunshine Stars gaffer said the league is very strong being an abridged format, saying everybody is looking for ways of surviving, I commend my players for their doggedness from the blast of the referee whistle to the end.

He said: “Our opponents are not a bad side, we defeated them in the first leg and we stamp our authority on them in the second legs”

His Elkanemi Warriors counterpart, Coach Hamza Abara, said they were never bargain for the outcome of the encounter.

He said: His team fought well but lost the battle due to fatigue and fasting”.

We arrived here around 5pm on Saturday, I just told the players to wear their training kits to this place for warm up, which is not good for us, all the way from Maiduguri.”
