Massive involvement of all Nigerians in agriculture, irrespective of gender, status or profession, is the only panacea to the food crisis and hardship currently ravaging the country.

The Alafin of Afin Akoko, in Akoko Northwest Local Government of Ondo State, Professor Abdur-Raheem Mustapha Adejoro, gave the submission in a chat with newsmen in Afin Akoko on Thursday.

Adejoro, therefore called on government at all levels in the country to engage the teeming unemployed youths, able bodied men and women in Nigeria in farming.

According to the monarch, government must do all things possible to encourage people to go into agriculture by way of provision of incentives, interest free loans and subsidised farming inputs to make the occupation lucrative.

The Alafin who posited that the country is passing through a period of food crisis, declared that government must be aggressive in handling food production and declare a revolution in agriculture as a way of earning foreign exchange which is a way out of the hardship the nation.

The monarch wants all traditional rulers and title holders to lead the way by laying good examples for others to emulate in this direction.

In the meantime, Adejoro has appealed to land owners in the country to always release land to those interested in farming to make food production a success in the country.
