Osun State Government has directed the Field Commandant, Osun Amotekun Corps, Mr Amitolu Shittu, to appear before a disciplinary committee for attacking Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s aides on Facebook.
The Field Commander of Amotekun last week circulated a statement on social media wherein he levied some allegations against Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s Chief of Staff and Special Adviser on Security Matters, Dr Charles Akinola and Mrs Abiodun Ige, respectively.
In the lengthy Facebook post last week, Shittu described Akinola and Ige as opportunists and political liabilities to the government, suggesting they had done nothing to deserve the positions they hold.
According to a statement issued by Commissioner for Information, Mrs Funke Egbemode, on Saturday, said Oyetola asked a committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, to wade into the matter and submit the proceedings of their intervention within 72 hours.
The statement read in part, “The Government of the State of Osun has invited the Field Commander of the State’s Amotekun Corps, Amitolu Shittu, to appear before a disciplinary committee it has set up over a publication that has made the rounds recently.
“Amitolu had released a statement earlier in the week through which he raised weighty accusations and attacks against the persons of some members of Governor Oyetola’s cabinet.”
