Osun State Government has restated its commitment to give adequate healthcare and psycho-socio support to gender based victims in order not to affect their psychological well-being.
Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs, Barr. Olubukola Olaboopo who disclosed this in Osogbo said there is no punishment that is too grave for deviant rapists.
She lamented that despite the pivotal roles played by women in the society, it is a pity that they face the worst of societal challenges which include rape, poverty, marginalization and other social vices.
Olaboopo noted that women have been struggling with these menaces for a long time but that the recent outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic has greatly heightened their difficulties in the country.
She further disclosed that apart from adequate healthcare being given to rape victims, the state government is already on the move to empower women on self-defense skills, tagged ” Osun Women Martial Art Empowerment”, against rapists.
She advised women to make use of the Osun Women Clinic which is available at the Ministry to offer diverse forms of supports.
She also used the medium to call on operators of orphanages across the State to abide by the guidelines of operations of their orphanages and ensure that all necessary dues ranging from registration to renewal are paid into Government coffers as and when due.
