Vicar advises politicians to put trust in God

Jimoh Ahmed, Ikare Akoko.

Political gladiators in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State have been advised to put their trust in God, as He is the only authority who gives out positions to anybody He so desires.
The Vicar-in-charge of Emmanuel Anglican Church, Edo, Ikare in Akoko Northeast Local Government area of Ondo State, Reverend Cannon Isaac Awowole, handed down these words of admonition in his sermon on Sunday at the church’s service.
Awowole reminded them that whatever position or height one attains in life is not without the knowledge of God.
The cleric said the call became imperative as over 12 political parties are jostling to occupy the same single position.
Awowole urged politicians to sell their programmes and manifestos to the electorate and not to habour do-or-die thought.
He noted that while the country is growing democratically, politicians need to imbibe progressive and decent politics and politicking devoid of rancour and acrimony.
He urged churches to pray fervently for the peaceful conduct of primary elections and the main elections in October.
