Speaking on the prevention of flood, he commended the governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for giving priority to issues relating to environment and wastes noting that government has put in place measures to combat flood in the state.
Describing flooding as a global challenge, Asaniyan stated that the present administration has ensured the reduction of water flow to communities in coastal line of the state through identification of hot spots and construction of canals obstruction and channelisation.
He said two additional escalators have been purchased noting that it will make it possible to have one escalator deployed to each senatorial district in the state.
Speaking further, Asaniyan stated that channelisation exercise will not be concentrated close to the rainy season, stressing the need for residents to make use of waste bins for waste “Public waste should be put in containers or appropriate nylon bags and put at the right place for relevant PSP to pick up. Waste should not be dumped indiscriminately.”
He advised that all should have water pathways in their houses for easy flow of water to prevent flooding noting that government can only provide water pathways in major roads.
