We’re committed to youth devt – Commissioner

The Ondo State government has expressed its readiness to promote the development of youths in the state.
The Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Bamidele Ologun made this known during an award giving ceremony of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ondo State chapter

Mr Ologun said, “It is very important to let you know that the current administration, under the leadership of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, believes so much in youth development, and this year there is going to be a lot of goodies for youths of this state.”
He added, “I tell people who care to know that the youths of this country are not lazy. They will thrive if given an enabling environment. I believe in the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria and I have seen the seriousness of the people involved.”
Ologun advised the executives of the NYCN to be upright and accommodate everyone.
He said, “They should be ready to develop themselves and believe in themselves. That way, the sky will be their starting point.”

Also, speaking, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Youths and Students Affairs, Muyiwa Ogunyemi, said, “We have to work together to ensure we engage the youths constantly. As it is now, the youths are on the right track. They are doing what they have been constitutionally empowered to do. I can assure you that the youths of the state will continue to grow and wax stronger.”

National President of NYCN, Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, who was represented by the National Programme Officer, Jimoh-Giwa Ayub, stated that the council’s mission was to promote youth interest and assist the government to implement youth-oriented policies.
His words, “We are out to galvanise young persons to actualise their dreams through collective efforts and represent them before the government. We also assist government to implement policies that affect young persons. That is what we stand for and will continue to pursue.”

The national president, who stated that the Council had been creating awareness for youths through social media and other platforms, pointed out that youths were doing well in entertainment, sports and other spheres because opportunities had been given to them.

Chairman of NYCN, Ondo State chapter, Mr Adewale Ogunmolawa told The Hope, “We want to mobilise the youths to have a sense of belonging and bring the best out of them. We want them to know that we are not just leaders of tomorrow, but we have both the present and the future of our nation in our hands.”
