Armed forces remembrance: Yayi-Akorede commends military, others over sacrifice

The Chief Imam of Akure, Alhaji AbdulHakeem Yayi-Akorede has commended the sacrifices of Military Personnel and other security agencies in the country .

Akorede therefore called on the three tiers of government to ensure budgetary provision for the annual Armed forces and remembrance day celebration.

Speaking at a Jumaat service commemorating the Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Akure on Friday, the Chief Imams said the role played by the fallen heroes towards defending the territorial integrity of the nation cannot be over-emphasized

The Chief Imam who recalled the position of God as contained in the holy Quran on the welfare of widows and ophans called for more support for them.

In his remarks, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu said his government will continue to see to the welfare of dependants of the fallen heroes.

The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Raimi Aminu appreciated the security agencies including the Amotekun Corp for their efforts.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social development, Dr. Bunmi Oshadahun enumerated various programmes put in place by the ministry to support dependants of the fallen heroes which include zero interest loans.
