Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Osun State have been enjoined to ensure adequate reporting of grants received from donor agencies and other development partners of the state for transparency and accountability.
Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Prof. Olalekan Yinusa gave the charge during an Inter-ministerial committee meeting on development partners’ intervention programmes in the state.
Yinusa said this will aid the transparent and accountable style of governance which the Gboyega Oyetola led administration is determined to institutionalize in the state and further build positive image for the state.
He added that full reporting of grants received from donor agencies and other development partners is very important for the state to also officially extend the necessary gratitude to the donors and further build trust and confidence in the state.
According to the commissioner, “We cannot continue to under report grants or aids that we have gotten from our development partners. This is not too good for transparency and accountability and it negates what the present administration preaches.
“We need to continue to be transparent in whatever we do, that is what this government preaches. These grants are for the purpose of making life better for the masses, the receipt and usage must be well reported, that is how we can continue to earn the trust of the donors and other development partners.
“As government, there is the need for an official gratitude to the donors, if government doesn’t know about the grants, how do we show appreciation. If we don’t show appreciation, it sends a negative signal”. Yinusa stated.
