Commissioner solicits groups’s collaboration
on urban devt

Ondo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Alhaji Amidu Takuro said contemporary prime consideration must be given to physical planning and urban development.
He therefore called on the Association of Town Planning Consultants of Nigeria (ATOPCON) and other stakeholders in the field of Town Planning to collaborate with the State Government to achieve futuristic value for modern physical planning and urban development of major cities and towns.
The Commissioner who stated this at the inauguration of the State chapter of the Association in Akure said this is imperative to complement the massive road construction projects and infrastructural development of Akeredolu-led administration with a view to making the State a better place to live and model in Nigeria.
According to a press release by the Head, Media Unit of the Ministry, Williams Oni, the Commissioner informed that to achieve these, the Akeredolu administration has put machinery in motion to enact new law that would address the inadequacies of the existing one which has been hampering the effective management of physical development in the state.
He added that the State government has emplaced a policy that ensured ‘Tittle Documents to be secured before building plan approval could be granted, saying that the development is to reduce associated problems common to land matters.
Alhaji Takuro further stated that the State government has signed Memorandum of Understanding with a private organization ‘UNHABITAT’ on preparation of Master Plan for three selected cities in the State as well as building of a Youth Center as Urban Renewal programme in State capital.
In his welcome address, the ATOPCON President Mr Muyiwa Adelu commended Governor Akeredolu for the giant strides in the area of physical transformation and infrastructural development of major cities and towns in the State
Mr. Adelu pledged total cooperation of members of the Association to the State government to achieve its developmental agenda.
