Nigerians have commended the Super Eagles for ending the 2019 African Cup of Nations with a bronze medal.

Super Eagles had defeated Eagles of Carthage of Tunisia 1-0 via a three minute goal from Odion Ighalo.

A football enthusiast, Mr Gbenga Akinmoyo while chatting with Sporting Hope on phone said, Eagles have not performed badly in the AFCON, saying they just need to step up their endeavour to achieve greatness.

Akinmoyo pointed out that with greater technical ability, better jell among the players and playing more as a team, less of individuals abilities, the future is bright.

He however said Eagles players should do away with the attitude of using the national colour for personal glory of enlarging their earnings.

He said whenever our footballers put on National Jersey, they become more interested in selling themselves as against doing the nation proud, they see themselves at international stage to renew their contract to move from one club to another.

They  should put national pride above personal glory, national glory can easily translate to individual success.

He played down on the idea muted by the NFF President Amaju Pinnick to send Gernot Rohr to refresher course in overseas at the detriment of indigenous coaches, saying it’s laughable an uncalled for.

He reiterated that Rohr will not remain life coach of Super Eagles, adding that if is an individual wants to become best on his job, he should be able to improve himself to be more marketable.

He therefore advised the NFF not to concentrate on individual rather they should strengthen our institution by traning the trainer.

They should expose our football administrators on how to manage sports in general.
