‘Focus on grassroots football development’

The Chairman, Ekiti State Sports Council (EKSC) Mrs Olusola Osetoba has stressed the need for Football association in the state to redouble its efforts and focus on the development of football at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the 2021 Annual General Meeting of the Ekiti State Football Association Osetoba said the state government has provided an enabling environment for sports including football to thrive inspite of daunting challenges.
She used the occasion to highlight the various efforts of the State government towards boosting and developing football as a game in Ekiti state.
The Sports Council boss also said Governor Kayode Fayemi had done well by providing necessary platforms for every sports to thrive.
She said with the inauguration of the Sports Development Trust Fund, the state athletes and coaches will heave a sigh of relief as there will be solutions to paucity of funds to prosecute their programs in the coming years.
She said the Sports Council was intensifying efforts to curtail the exodus of Ekiti athletes to other states by rewarding outstanding young athletes who could bring honours to the state at future national sporting competitions.
She thanked the Ekiti FA for its synergy and understanding with the Sports Council Management stressing that such gesture would bring about positive results for the good of the younger generation.
