As the ongoing grassroot football competition holding in Ijapo/Housing Field enters knock out stages, Ijapo Ages FC have drubbed Royal Stars 2-0 to qualify for the next round of the tourney.
It was a tough cracker between both sides as the bottom table team Royal Stars conceeded six goals in the competition aimed to turn the table against the Ijapo Ages FC who needed the two goal to remain in the competition.
Ijapo Ages FC waited till 27th minute before they were able to unlock the Royal Stars backline from Olorunda John beautiful tee up before Chidi Anthony made the scorcher that broke the camel back.
Ijapo Ages FC goal keeper, Soji John did well to deny Royal Gold many goal scoring chances in both half, before Olorunda John extended the Ijapo based team in the 64th minute when he benefited from Chidi Anthony pass.
Ijapo Ages FC penalty appeal was waved by the center referee 15 minutes to end the game, while what could have been Royal Stars’ consolation goal in the competition was cancelled for a foul on opponent goal keeper.
Meanwhile , Florence Joshua Academy and Victory Lion had earlier played 1-1 draw in the group A to Progress to the next round while Waxing FC held Wonder Xchange 1-1 to qualify alongside Ijapo Ages FC in group B.
