Funmilayo Ogunjemowo Edwin, commonly known by her stage name, “Ayanbinrin”, is a string instrumentalist, entertainer and talking drummer.

She was born in Ado Ekiti, but hails from lgbotako in Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State.

She spoke while sharing her experience with Weekend Extravaganza on how she found herself in the world of drumming.

Ayanbinrin said she discovered her God-given talent when she was a child.

“I have been drumming from my childhood and the drum, then is called AKUBA.

“When I became a lady, I discovered I have to pick up my God’s given talent, I picked talking drum and other percussions like (OMOLE BATA N IYA ILU).

” I only learn how to beat the talking drum when I wanted to continue my career as a drummer and I have been drumming for six years.

” People always get carried away and amazed when they see me as a female beating and performing excellently on stage.

“I do wonder when the crowd stood up spraying me money and this encourages me to perform more and better on stage.

“It also gives me joy and strength to move on and also, I always feel so fulfilled and happy while performing on stage.

Speaking on the wonders she does with her drum, Ayanbinrin stated that she uses her drum to talk, make some proverbs, using it to praise God, creating melody and making crowd happy.
