‘Invest in livestock ’

By Fatima Muraina

Nigerians have been advised to develop interest and invest more in livestock production.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ondo State Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Kunle Sanni gave the advice while receiving animal feed machine from the Federal government at Idanre, in Idanre local government area of Ondo state.
Sanni, who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Livestock in the Ministry, Mr Gabriel Obademi observed that people were not making maximum utilization of the opportunities in the livestock production.
He noted that Idanre community should not focus only on cocoa production, but to also invest in livestock like goatry, poultry, rabbitry, piggery etc .
He said the sector is economically beneficial because it generates revenue and reduces the rate of unemployment in the country.
” It serves as a multiplying effect for farmers to increase their production to cater for feed mill and the bird waste could be used for organic fertilizer which is better than the inorganic fertilizer,” Obademi said.
According to him, they are good avenues of making money with good management, little resources and space.
He assured people of Ondo State of the Ministry’s readiness to help while calling on Nigerians at home and those in diaspora to come and invest in livestock projects.
