Land use charge: ODSG seeks CAN’s support

Ondo State Government has solicited the support of the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) Ondo State Branch for the implementation of land use charge

The Chairman, Ondo State Board of Internal Revenue, Mr. Tolu Adegbie sought this support at a meeting with the representatives of the association in the 18 local government areas of the state at Bolorunduro in Ondo East local government.

Adegbie according to release signed by the Media Manager of Ministry of Finance, Itunu Lijofi explained that the Land Use Charge Law came into being in 2014, and that to lessen burden on its citizenry, the state government skipped three years (2014-2016) of payment and granted amnesty for 2017 & 2018 where individual were asked to pay for two years according to the rates.

The Chairman who informed the association that some properties were exempted from the charge after proper identification, also explained the processes involved easy mode of payment.

He implored the association to join hands in propagating the land use charge law to their followers, noting that money realised from the charge would be used to provide social amenities for the people.

The Lead Consultant of the State Global Revenue, Mr. Jide Sanwo advised the gathering to cooperate with the state government in the development of the state.

In his response, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Ondo State Branch, Rev. Ayo Oladapo, appreciated the team and pledged their support to the state government as he promised that they would educate their people on the issue.

He equally advised the state government to keep to its words to meet the yearnings of the people in providing necessary amenities as a result of their payment.
