Man charged for stealing 250  bags of rice

A 32-year-old man, Festus Oluwaseun has been dragged before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 250 bags of rice.

The prosecutor, ASP John Idoko told the court that the accused person stole 250 bags of rice worth about N3.3 million owned by one Fashola.

The accused person, who is facing a three- count  bothering on theft and unlawful possession, was said to have  committed the offence on July 23, 2019 around 1:17pm at Baruwa area in Osogbo.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the offence which the prosecution said contravened sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34  Vol.11, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

The defence counsel, Mr Ola Ibrahim, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mrs Rofiat Olayemi granted the accused person bail in the sum of N1 million  with  two sureties in  like sum.

Olayemi said the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction with an evidence of tax payment and two passports sized photographs attached.

He, adjourned till September 2, 2019 for hearing.
