Ondo NUP lauds Gov over welfare

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Ondo state chapter, has applauded the state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu over improved welfare of its members.

The state Secretary of the NUP, Akin Sunday, who gave the commendation in Akure, the  state capital, specifically expressed delight with the declaration by Governor Akeredolu to inject more fund to enable more retirees benefit.

The Governor at his weekly media briefing had promised  to pay pension and gratuities, saying that his administration would give priority to regular payment of pension despite financial constraints.

“We will try as much as possible to put more money there, so that more people will get their pension and gratuities,” Akeredolu said.

Reacting to the governor’s gesture, the NUP Secretary,  said such more funding would lift many pensioners out of untimely death.

He also commended the leadership of the state NLC and the State Head of Service, Mr Dare Aragbaiye, for being proactive in seeing to the good welfare of retirees in the state.

He further applauded the governor for payment of 33% pension increase for retirees in the state.
