Ondo poultry farmers get palliative

Poultry farmers in Ondo state have received maize from the Federal Government as part of the palliative measures to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

The Chairman of South West zone of the Poultry Association of Nigeria PAN, Mr Gideon Oluleye who spoke with The Hope during  the collection yesterday in Akure, said the measure will help reduce cost of production and increase their profitability.

He applauded the state for its sensitivity to the plights of farmers hence, the need.

He described it as wholesome, saying that the maize was given free.

” We are moving  some  to Okitipupa,  Akoko, Owo and Ondo respectfully,” he said.

” This will help bring down the cost of production”he further stated.

The state Vice Chairman of PAN who is a leader in the Okitipupa zone, Elder Olumide Bolarinwa, said the move will ensure the production of quality and edible protein for the consumers.

The PAN representative for Akoko zone, Mr Demian Ogunbi described the gesture as laudable.

” There is  hope for consumers as many farmers will come back to business to make birds available at cheaper prices for the populace,” he noted.

 The PAN Chairman Owo/Ose zone, Mr Lekan Bosede assured that the maize will be given to real farmers.
