Ondo residents lament difficulty in PVC collection

Electorate willing to register or transfer their Permanent Voters Card, PVC, in Ondo State have expressed displeasure over difficulties being faced at registration points and centres.

They described the delay experienced in registration, collection of their PVC and transfer of voters cards as stressful.

Amid the rush at the ongoing CVR centres the eligible registrants called on INEC to deploy more machines to ease pressure in most acute number of residents who wish to register as voters and challenges they face across the state.

They stated this in separate interviews with The Hope at the commission’s offices in Akure, the State capital and Ore, Odigbo local government area of the State.

It was gathered that the sudden turnout of prospective registrants is overwhelming.

A resident in Akure, Mr. Taiwo Omolayo, lamented his inability to register his name for many days.

He explained that the process was discouraging as he could not continue to leave his source of income to queue for the transfer of voters card.

A resident in Ore, Mrs Grace Chukwunwike said the need to deploy more machines to identify rightful owners of PVCs before their distribution  are needed at the Commission Secretariat in Ore.

Chukwunwike, who lamented over stress to get her voter card said she would not be able to vote for her choice candidate in the next year general elections if not given the card.

“I am anxious to get my PVC because I don’t want to be disenfranchised” she said.

On his part, Mr Adedayo Emmanuel, who said it is imperative for every eligible citizens to get their voters card to elect their choice candidate noted who-knows-who as another challenge facing prospective voters in collecting their votes card.

“Since we have been coming here to collect our voters’ card the point is that the machines are not okay and not enough to cover all of us” he amended.
