Ondo State House Committee on Lands and Housing has said its familiarisation visits to ministries and agencies were not to witch hunt or look for what was not lost.
Chairman of the Committee, Mr Oluyede Feyide stated this during a familiarisation visit to the Ondo State Development and Property Corporation (OSDPC) in Akure ,the State capital.
Feyide explained that they embarked on the visits to familiarize with the corporation to assure them of a healthy legislative working relationship that will usher in a better horizon for the state.
He noted that the committee will not condone any act of negligence at all levels that will bring disrepute to the government.
His words, “we are not on witch hunting mission neither are we looking for what is not lost, the whole idea was to familiarize with you and ensure everythingis going on well in the state agencies. In the next few weeks we will comeback for oversight function.”
He therefore enjoined the corporation to put them in the know of what is happening in the corporation and avail them the necessary information to know where to come in to help if the need be and for easy debate on the floor of the house.
The Chairman of the Corporation, Mr. Gabriel Morphy Aderomilehin while receiving members of the House Committee on Lands and Housing congratulated them on their electoral victories at the poll, stressing that their victories would immensely contribute positively to the all round development of the state.
Aderomilehin expressed the Corporation’s readiness to work with the Assembly for accelerated development.
He intimated the house committee, about the functions and powers of the Corporation which include; “to acquire, develop, hold, manage, sell, mortgage, lease or let landed properties to persons or organizations in the state
He said it also included providing shelter on commercial basis and on social services basis if directed and or funded/ subsidized by the State Government; develop the state capital and other urban centres in the state.”
The Corporation boss therefore sought for legislative assistance from them in the area of budgetary allocation to ensure they meet up with their mandate.
