Police launch manhunt for killers of Petrol Station guards in Akure

Homicide detectives in Ondo State Police Command are currently probing into the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of two security men of a filling station by unknown assailants.
The security men whose identities were yet to be ascertained were reportedly murdered at midnight by the suspected bandits who invaded the Ojojolowo petrol Station in Akure metropolis last week.
Reports reaching The Hope Metro said the suspected armed men stormed the filling station near the New Stadium road in the state capital and overpowered the guards on duty.
They were said to have tied them and severed their heads with a knife, leaving their lifeless bodies in the pool of their blood till the following day.
As at the time of filing in this report, it was not clear whether the bandits made away with any money or property.
Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident and said the police had begun investigation to unmask those behind the killings.
He explained that the detectives had visited the scene of the incident and deposited the corpses at Akure Specialist hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
He called on the general public to assist the police with useful information that could help solve crime related issues in the state.
Our correspondent who visited the scene gathered that the filling station had shut down its operations pending the outcome of police investigation.
