Man in court for stabbing neighbour

A middle-aged man, James Francis, who allegedly stabbed his neighbour with broken bottle has been arraigned before an Ile-Ife Magistrate’s Court.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused person assaulted a resident, one Gregory Nwoeze and stabbed his stomach, forehead and hands with broken bottle.
He said Francis committed the offence on March 11, at Ido-Afeki area, off Ilesa Road in Ile-Ife, contrary to Section 266 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty to one-count charge of assault.
The Defense Counsel, Mr Babawale Omodogbe, prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal terms, assuring that he would not jump bail.
Magistrate Ibitola Oyebadejo granted the accused person N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
Oyebadejo ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and should produce three recent passport photographs.
She further ordered that one of the sureties must be gainfully employed, and should present three years tax clearance certificate.
The case was adjourned till April 5, for hearing.
