Police parade six over rape, kidnappings in Ekiti

Detectives of the Ekiti State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with the various recent cases of kidnapping , rape and defilement that have become rampart in the state.
The Police Commissioner, Ekiti Command, Mr. Babatunde Mobayo, while parading the suspects in Ado Ekiti, said the men of Rapid Response Squad(RRS) on September 19, this year, arrested Abu Tobi, Falodun Ojo, Ogundele Tope and Adams Saheed for kidnapping one Oyetuyi Taiwo and Ibitoyi Pelumi at about 7.30pm..
Mobayo, represented by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu, said the suspects were arrested at Soludero hotel, Isan-Ekiti.
“It was gathered that on September 18, 2021, Abu Tobi, Falodun Ojo and Ogundele Tope left Ayede-Ekiti by an unregistered Boxer Bajaj motorcycle, arrived Isan-Ekiti at about 3:30pm and settled at a drinking joint in the town, very close to Soludero Hotel where their targets were lodging.They also invited one Adams Saheed to join them before carrying out their plan.
“At about 08:30 pm of the same day, the suspects moved into the Hotel and abducted the two victims after which they started demanding for N20 million ransom from the family of the victims.
“Thorough investigation led to the arrest of Abu Tobi and Falodun Ojo and the subsequent arrest of Ogundele Tope and Adams Saheed. One unregistered Bajaj Boxer motorcycle was recovered from the suspects, “he said.
The CP also told newsmen that one Ibrahim Hassan was arrested on September 19, 2021 at about 6:10pm for allegedly abducting two victims along Ayebode-Odo/Ayede – Ekiti road with his gang, assuring that others at large would be nabbed and brought to justice.
Also paraded was an 18-year-old Oluwaseun , who was nabbed for allegedly defiling a three- year old minor.
The CP said, “Investigation revealed that the suspect lured the victim into his room on the August 6, 2021 at about 3:50pm where he had carnal knowledge of her. The victim was thereafter, taken to the hospital for medical examination and treatment.
“The expert opinion proves that there was a penetration into the private part of the victim. Meanwhile, further investigation revealed that when the grandmother of the victim heard about the incident, she demanded the sum of N50,000 from the parents of the suspect for amicable settlement of the case.
“The said money was paid to her and she converted it into her personal use. She was also arrested and shall be charged to Court alongside the suspect for compounding felony and defilement respectively.”
In addition, Mobayo paraded one Ayodeji Ojo, for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a girl forcefully.
The CP further revealed the identities of other suspects arrested for cases bordering on alleged burglary, stealing and robbery, warning on members of the public on the need to be security conscious.
