Shops owners count losses, as fire razes store

Properties and goods worth millions of naira have been destroyed by an inferno which  razed  a building used as store of goods at Olaiya area of Osogbo, capital of Osun State.

Many shop owners were thrown into grief following the losses they recorded as a result of the fire disaster which occurred on Monday night.

Our correspondent learnt that no life was lost in the fire incident.

It was gathered that the inferno which started  on Monday night affected shops where rice, groundnut oil, beauty accessories among other goods were stored.

The goods had been burnt to ashes before firefighters arrived the scene.

The recent fire incident came few weeks after some shops and goods were destroyed by inferno at Station Road in Osogbo.

Speaking at the scene of the incident, a trader, Mrs Mary Chidi said the two shops were completely razed, adding that all the goods kept therein were razed before the arrival of fire fighters.

Another trader who  identified himself as Chinedu Obika said goods worth millions of naira were totally destroyed.

The cause of the inferno could not be ascertained as of press time. But traders in the area said there was no electricity supply in the affected shops.
