Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure fell to 1-0 defeat in the hand of Rivers United in the Super six competition decided at  Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan,Lagos.

While Enyimba and Remo Stars have earlier played out a 2-2 draw at the opening game of the competition and Bendel Insurance played a barren draw with Lobi Stars in the last match of the day.

Rivers United waited till 56th minute before Ebube Duru scoring from a controversial spot kick that shocked many football fans at the sporting arena in the second game of the match day one.

The first half of the encounter had ended in a goaless draw, Sunshine Stars efforts to revenge the league’s defeat against Rivers were not successful as the former champions curtailed all their tricks.

However, some football fans that watched the encounter between Sunshine Stars and Rivers United had challenged the integrity of the match officials.

Al- Amin Muhammed Sulaiman who reacted on ‘Nigeria Report Football platform” said “it was a very disappointing officiating, the referee in charge need to be questioned, something is fishy.”

Saviour Mbet congratulated the winners, while Remigius Akinbibu commented “That penalty couldn’t have been given anywhere else except in the Nigeria league, do the officials realise the game was on live telecast?”

Vic Tor, said “how was that a penalty in the first place? Our officiating is still way behind.”

Sunshine Stars will today (Monday) face Bendel Insurance by 6pm in their next game  today, while Lobi stars  tackle Enyimba by 2pm and Rivers United tackle Remo Stars by 4pm.
