The mandate is yours –Tofowomo

The Senator-elect for the Ondo South Senatorial District, Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo has disclosed that the mandate given to him in the just concluded election is people’s mandate.

It will be recalled that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) earlier declared the results of the election held on Feb 23rd inconclusive citing violence and irregularities in at least 42 units which led to cancellation of votes and thereafter conducted a supplementary election which was held along with the State House of Assembly on Saturday.

According to the results released by the returning officer, Prof. Kayode Onifade, Tofowomo polled a total of 81,892 votes to defeat his rival, the incumbent Senator Yele Omogunwa of the APC who scored 55,610 votes.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity, Tofowomo Campaign Organization, Mr Olumide Akinrinlola the Senator-elect said ” The mandate is yours. It is not for my family or my LGAs,  it is indeed the mandate of the good people of Ondo South expressly given to me by all of you across the six LGAs of Ondo South to represent your interest at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja “

The senator-elect however promised to give quality representation at the Senate and to equally enhance the unity of the people of the Ondo South without sentiments.

” I promise to represent you as a senator representing Ondo South and not a senator representing PDP, nor a particular tribe or religion. I am going to be a distinguished senator if the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the Ondo South “

” With the spirit of patriotism in me, I will work to enhance the unity of the people of Ondo South regardless of tribes, religion or political parties ” he said

Tofowomo also assured the people not to be a docile senator and promised to surpass all the promises he made during the electioneering campaign which he said is already published online for appraisal throughout his tenure as senator.
