The All Progressives Congress, in Ondo State has described the objection of the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello to the southern governors’ clamour for power shift to the south as his own opinion.
The party in the state also criticised Bello over his claim that there was no provision for ‘rotational presidency ‘ in the APC constitution.
The State Caretaker Chairman of the party, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, who stated this in an interview with The Hope, disclosed that the position of the Kogi State Governor was not the general opinion of northern leaders for power shift to north.
According to him, the clamour for which region would produce president was the responsibility of the leaders of the party to determine.
“The position of Governor Yahaya Bello on zoning of president to north, is not the general opinion of northern leaders. He is speaking for himself.
“He is entitled to his opinion as it is being allowed under the fundamental human right to speech.
“He never said that if the party picks from the north, he would only support.
“Is he the national chairman or the secretary of the party, No ” he stated
Adetimehin who, noted that Governor Bello has legal right to express his opinion added that the party leaders would determine which region to produce president.
He said: “the issue is purely leadership affair and leaders will decide when the time comes.”
