Twenty thousand, three hundred and sixty beneficiaries across 203 wards of the State have been registered in the first phase in 2021 for the Basic Health Care Provision Fund Programme (BHCPFP) which commenced in Ondo State last Friday.
Director-General, Ondo State Contributory Health Commission, Dr Abiodun Oyeneyin revealed this while speaking with The Hope on the take off of the programme in Akure.
According to him, more people will be registered in the successive years as the state receives more funds under the BHCPFP.
He explained that the state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu flagged off the programme on February 5, 2021, noting that the commission has put in place measures for the smooth running of the programme in the state.
Oyenehin who spoke through the Director, Business Development & Marketing, ODCHC, Dr Tolu Ademujimi stated that the commission was implementing the programme in conjunction with Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency.
Speaking further, he said; ” We have disaggregated the responsibilities and have saddled different departments and units with specific roles in the management of the programme. For easy coordination of all the departments and units, we have also designated the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics as the Programme Manager of BHCPFP.
“We have a strong Monitoring & Evaluation mechanism under our Standards & Quality Assurance (SQA) department to ensure that the healthcare providers comply with BHCPFP operational guidelines.
“The SQA team also has several feedback channels for the enrollees to communicate with the Commission. The Business Development and Marketing department liaises with the Ward Development Committees (WDCs) across the 203 wards in the state to encourage them to also help monitor the programme in their respective wards.
“Our Accounts Department ensures prompt payment of Capitation monthly to all the 203 Primary health care facilities. In addition, through our legal unit, a robust contractual agreement between the Commission and the primary and secondary providers is in place to ensure that all parties are awake to the reality of their responsibilities while the Public Relations unit creates awareness about the programme through various media platforms in Ondo State.”
