Not less than 31,000 people have applied for the teachers recruitment exercise ongoing in Ondo State, The Hope has learnt.

Recall the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB) began recruitment of qualified teachers for public primary schools in rural areas last week.

According to Prince Bolu Diesel Ajijo, the Director of Information and Public Relations for ODSUBEB, the recruitment exercise would span five days, starting on Tuesday, April 2, and concluding on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

Prospective applicants were urged to utilize the official recruitment portal, www.odsgsubeb.org, to submit their applications.

Speaking with The Hope, a source in the government said as at the close of application last Friday, over 31,000 people had applied for the available slots.

The source added that no new application would be entertained but those who had applied before the deadline could log into their portals to print their slips.

Ondo SUBEB Chairman, Victor Olabimtan, earlier noted that the teachers’ recruitment exercise is strategically tailored to address the persistent shortage of teaching staff in remote regions of the state.

He emphasized the meticulous nature of the recruitment process, which will be guided by localized needs assessments conducted at the grassroots level.

To qualify for teaching positions, applicants must hold a professional teaching qualification, such as a National Certificate in Education (NCE), in addition to other relevant academic credentials such as Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A.Ed), or Bachelor of Science in Education (B.Sc.Ed).
