The ambition of the former Chairman of Akoko Northeast Local Government Area of Ondo State, Mr Lekan Bada to represent Akoko Northeast/Northwest in the House of Representatives inches to reality as the people of Ikare Akoko have given him their total support.
The people gathered at the palace of Olukare of Ikare Akoko on Tuesday to show solidarity with the former local government boss.
Speaking on behalf of the people, the Olokedogan of Okoja, Ikare, Chief Ekunnusi Liadi, said Bada performed creditably well during his tenure as the local government chairman.
He stated that the achievements of the former chairman were still there for people to see.
He, therefore, assured him of people’s support during the party’s primary and in the general elections.
In the same vein, the Olukare of Ikare Akoko, Oba Saliu Akadiri Momoh IV, prayed for Bada and assured him of the support of the people.
Earlier, while telling the people on his mission in the palace, Bada said he came to officially inform his people of his desire to represent them at the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
He told the people that he will represent them well if eventually chosen.
He promised to bring good governance to their door steps while liaising with them at all times to know their desires from government.
Speaking with The Hope in an interview, Bada said he will give the people quality representation as he has worked with them before and knew their yearnings and aspirations.
On his eligibility for the position, he stated that apart from being eminently qualified to contest for the exalted office, the rotational principle between the two local governments that made up the constituency, gave him a better chance.
According to him, going by the agreement, it was now the turn of Akoko Northeast to present candidate for the House of Representatives seat.
He went further to say no candidate has ever been voted for in their second term because of the rotation policy .
He therefore called on the people of the federal constituency to stick to the principle for equity and fairness.
Speaking in the same vein, Aliu Olumide Kamorudeen , popularly called Rolling Dollar in Ikare, call on the people to allow fairness and equity to play, by not reneging on the agreed principle of rotation between the two local councils.
Aliu believed Bada was the one who can do the job because of his achievements as a former council boss.
PDP Ondo North District Woman Leader, Mrs Tolani Hassan, called on the people of the constituency to respect the rotation agreement between the two local governments for fairness.
Tolani stated that the constituency is known for this and therefore, it should not be broken this time .
