Arabinrin Junior Tennis Club shine @ Chevron Junior Master Championship

Ondo State team represented by Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu -Akeredolu Junior Tennis Club at the just concluded Chevron Junior Tennis Championship shone like Stars by winning a gold and silver medals.

The International Tennis Academy had invited Arabinrin junior Tennis Club players for the 2023 Chevron Junior Master Championship in Lagos, with Eniola Lebi (B12), Sarah Adisa (G14) and Gbolahan Olawale (B16) donning the colour of Ondo State at the championship.

Gbolahan Olawale won Gold Medal in the Under 15 single of the six days championship, while Sarah Adisa also coasted home with Silver Medal in Under 14 category.

Eniola Lebi who performed brilliantly in his first match in the under 12 category was later moved to the under 14 category because of his sterling performance at her normal grade, he was unable to  outplay his opponents in the new and usual grade and couldn’t move beyond first round.

In a chat with Sporting Hope, Ondo State Tennis coach, Mayowa Sunday commended the starlets, saying they made Ondo State proud at the championship.

He added that the kids are future stars, adding that with more support from government and private individuals, the sky will be the starting point for them.

The coach thanked and appreciated the Wife of the Ondo State Governor, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu for her financial and moral support.

According him, “our First Lady provided all we needed for the championship and we thank God that we did not let her down.”

“I want to appeal to private individuals to join hands with the government to develop all round sports, not only in Ondo State but Nigeria as whole”.
