Bandits kidnap farmers in Ifon

Four farmers have been kidnapped from their farm in Ute in Ifon Ose local government area of Ondo have been abducted by unknown gunmen.
The incident occurred on Friday morning when they were in their farm.
The Hope Metro learnt that, 24 hours after their abduction, the suspected kidnappers reached out to their family and demanded for N20 million ransom for their release.
As at the time of filing this report, a source confirmed that negotiation was ongoing and the family members were trying to raise a substantial amount of money for the hoodlums.
This is coming barely few days after the State government directed all security agencies to go after the criminals, especially those involved in crimes.
A competent police source who confirmed the abduction of the four victims in Ifon area of the state at the weekend disclosed that the police have launched manhunt after the bandits in a bid to free the victims.
He, however said the police were not aware of the negotiation going on between the hoodlums and the families of the victims, adding that the police in conjunction with other security forces would do all that was required to rescue the victims and possibly arrest the perpetrators.
“We are combing the bush around the area where the victims were kidnapped and I can assure you that they will abandon the victims because we are closing at them,” he stated.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Funmilayo Odunlami promised to get back to our correspondent as soon as she got through to the DPO of Ifon for confirmation.
