Coronavirus: Ekiti begins distribution of sanitisers to schools

As part of the move to protect the people against the deadly coronavirus infection across the state, Ekiti State Government has commenced the distribution of hand

sanitizers to the public primary and secondary schools in the state.

The state Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Mr. Foluso Daramola, who supervised the distribution of the items to the first set of schools in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, called on school administrators to ensure that the sanitizers were used solely for the purpose it was meant for.

Daramola assured that the present administration in the state will continue to do everything within its capacity and ensure that the deadly disease did not enter the state.

He however appealed to parents and guardians to keep sick children away from schools, adding that urgent medical attention should be sought for such children.

He advised parents to call the emergency no of 112 should they suspect their wards showing any sign of flu while appealing to teachers and parents to cultivate the habit of proper hand washing every time they touch surfaces and visit the lavatories.

The Commissioner warned that those who had the habit of touching their mouth, eyes, nose and ears with their hands should stop hence forth.

In a related development, the Commissioner for Education Science and Technology paid a condolence visit to the family of a late student of Ado Community Grammar School, Isiaka Tolani, who died recently.

The student who was a Junior Secondary School (JSS 3) student, died during the preparatory training for the school’s Inter-house sports competition.

The commissioner prayed that God grants the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and that God puts an end to such an untimely death among the youths in the state.

He disclosed that the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who also shared in the moment of grief of the family, had made arrangement to give succor to the parents of the late student to cushion the effect.

On the entourage of the Commissioner during his visit to the residence of the deceased were the Permanent Secretary at the ministry, Mr. James Owolabi, Directors in the Ministry, the School Principal, Mr. Anjorin Oluwafemi and Staff of Ado Community Grammar School.
